On Saturday Diane, Lee, Neil (Aspland) and myself went to Leicester and, I suppose, represented the FTQL against three other representatitive teams from other leagues in the country. (From Kettering, Leicester and The Midlands). We had a great day out, making it too the final during which we never managed to get in front, trailing to the home team throughout.
I'm posting here because I would hope that this would become a regular event for a whole multiplicity of reasons, not least because it just screamed. We should have one for representative teams, and one for the champions.
Respect to John Frith (Fosse4) who practically set up, and ran the whole thing single handedly.
If Debbie ever reads this, I cannot apologise enough for bringing Neil back so late (It was well after 8:30), and can assure you it was entirely my fault for not having a wristwatch on. Soz.
There is a facebook group called "I'm a quizzer and proud of it" which may start to inform of more stuff like this.
Whatever
Ploughing a lonely furrow.

Amazing modesty from Mr Kidd, who neglected to add that having indeed trailed the home team throughout every round of the final, we were lying one point behind with one (2 point) question on the buzzer to go.
Modesty forbids me from telling you which one of us buzzed in with the
correct answer to claim a 1-point, historic victory!
Steve is correct that John Frith was awesome, having set over 200 great questions and practically single-handedly organised the whole day. Many thanks to him.
However, as usual, it was Steve's vision and enthusiasm that got the event off the ground, so thanks are due to him as well. We met some great people and had a fantastic time. _________________ Dinna fesh, grab life by the nuts |

Well OK, I thought it might go this way.. It was Diane who buzzed in on the last one. I can't remember anything but the first part of the question which was. Which notorious club... ...? Whilst I was mentally preparing my list of Notorious Clubs I was very relieved to here the buzz go, doubly so when I saw it was Diane's Light because I knew what she was going to say, but that she had waited for the clue (which didn't help me) and that therefore the high probability was that The Hellfire Club was correct and we had won. And it was. And we had.
I might add that all credit, including the vision and enthusiasm bit must go to John Firth. I have long advocated a Champion's League, but I am afraid that this gig was his, absolutely nothing to do with me. Damn!
I just love buzzer quiz.
PS Diane. There is a freaky pattern to your Quiz over the last fortnight I believe it may be played four, won Four, three of them by one point on the last question or pair of questions? Incidentally I also participated in a one point win with two point last question turnaround on Tuesday in the QLL to put us top of their summer League. Thank goodness for Candelas.

PPS. The questions are now up at http://www.facebook.com/topic.php?uid=53694389297&topic=9454
