The new season cannot be far away, so I was wondering if there is there any news yet on the annual meeting? The sooner we know the date, the more likely it is that people will attend. It would be nice to have at least one representative from each team there, but we need plenty of advance notice and publicity.
Neil.

Neil,
The committee is meeting on Monday evening next - ie the 1st October - when the date and venue of the AGM will be discussed and decided. We'll post the details here and Simon will, I'm sure, inform all member teams as soon as practicable.

| I must say that I am once again disappointed with the organisation of the committee regarding delivering information on events. This is especially true of the AGM/start of the season. While I thank Andy's reply I must say that last year the season started on 16 October. If the season is to begin again in October does this mean that the AGM will be on the 8th, the Charity Night on the 15th and the season start on the 22nd? It has always been an issue that enough people are not attending the AGM & the Charity Night but the argument seems to be that not enough people have been informed or not given enough notice. Cannot these things be decided by the end of the previous season? Surely before the Finals Night a date could be arrranged and a venue booked? That way it could be announced and placed in diaries then and you will reaching as many people as possible in one go. May I also suggest to the committee at this point not just just to rely on internet to inform members of forthcomming events. It appears that things have been left to the last moment again when there as been months passed when this could have been sorted. Also could we have a proposed timetable of committe meetings available as then we will be speak to committee members beforehand so that they can address these matters at the meetings. |

Fair enough, Debby. Simon was intending to call the committee meeting last week, but one of our number was on holiday, and I'm on 12-hour nights all this week which meant the meeting had to be knocked back a further week. A consequence of us all having lives away from the Quiz League.
Interestingly, the thread that I set up in 'Committee and Disciplinary' to make notes for the AGM this year seems to have disappeared into the ether. It was there in the middle of August, but isn't now. |

I appreciate that committee members have lives outside the quiz league -as do other members, hence the need for some sort of schedule to be in place so everyone has advance notice. I had great hopes for the organisation of the league now that we finally have a committee that is commited to being pro-active and I have seen improvements this year. I just wish that this side of the running of the league, which has been lacking for so long (and still persists) would have been improved. It is one of the things that always gets moans about year after year. Members should not have to be chasing up every year to find out what is happening. Lets get organised this season please. |

Andrew has made a very interesting observation here, numerous posts seem to have disappeared. I don't why this is, I'll try and find out a way of contacting forum support if there is one. However, this is a free forum, so there might well not be one.
Will keep informed. _________________ The worst ever contestant in the history of Mastermind...apparently |

I wish to apologise to other members of the 5TQL about my previous post. I was angry at the posting I replied to and replied impulsively.
I do not feel that this is the place for personal issues of a non-quiz related matters/personal attacks to be aired and it was wrong for me to react this way.

There's no need to worry about it Debby, I didn't think it was too strongly worded and I'm not offended. _________________ The worst ever contestant in the history of Mastermind...apparently |

| Would it be possible to put the details of the AGM/Charity Night/Start of the season on the Home Page for people who do not read the Forum? |

Assuming Simon's answer means "Yes, and they will be" rather than "Yes, but they won't be", perhaps the start time of the AGM could be clarified? Andy's posting says 8.30 but Simon's text says 8.00. This seems to be a common 5TQL problem, incidentally, as a similar discrepancy in advertised start times happened with both the finals nights last season.

My fault, Neil. The notes I took of the committee meeting say 8pm, I just failed to refer to them.
Sorry for any confusion caused. |

I would like to point out that the website has still not been updated. The scores for the end of last season have still not been added. Surely five months was long enough to rectify this?
It should now be up and running with the new details.
Is it the case that the website is no longer being maintained because there is no-one doing this job? If so, maybe there should have been an announcement for a replacement at the AGM?
If the website will no longer be updated could someone let us know please. |

Does this include the rest of the website?
If so, Simon, will you be updating the website at all this year?
We know that you haven't been on the forum since the end of the year. Is this true of the rest of the website as it has not been updated? I even had to ask whether you could put certain details on the Home Page. If you have lost interest is there any possible way someone else could maintain it? |

Website now updated. Apologies for lateness, I have been away over a week. We will have to get someone trained up on how to do it if I'm not around.
